Christian Vieri was a dominant force for the Italian national team, combining power, precision, and instinctive finishing to become one of the Azzurris most feared strikers. A classic number nine with a rare blend of physicality and technical skill, Vieri was Italys main attacking threat during the late 1990s and early 2000s. He shone brightest in the 1998 FIFA World Cup, scoring five goals and forming a lethal partnership with Roberto Baggio. Four years later, at the 2002 World Cup, he once again delivered with four goals, though Italys controversial exit against South Korea cut short his tournament. Injuries prevented him from featuring in Italys victorious 2006 World Cup campaign, but his legacy as one of the countrys greatest strikers remains intact. With 23 goals in 49 appearances for Italy, Vieris contributions were instrumental in keeping the Azzurri competitive on the world stage during his era.
